Headed to D.C.

Today we fly to Washington D.C. Tomorrow we have lunch at Capitol Hill and then we meet President Obama (that may be Tuesday). Delta is taking us to D.C. There is no one but the Champions and families on the plane.

This should be fun. I'll let you know.....

  2. Kace- It's Dr. Blount. I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am with all that you are doing and how proud I am of you. You were fabulous during the time of your surgery and you are a wonderful choice for Alabama's champion. I wish you the best of luck for a memorable trip.

  3. Hi, Kace. I work in the Foundation at Children's with Tracy Pharo. I've read and edited your story for several publications, so I feel I know you and we've never met! My name is Tamika Dunning and I just wanted to say best of luck on your trip and have a safe and fun time. We are all proud to say that you are a CHILD OF CHILDREN'S. I'm sure you know that you are on our Web site...www.childofchildrens.org, as that is another portion of my job duties here. We also selected your story for this month's fundraising letter to be mailed to donors all over Alabama asking for support of Children's.

    You are a hero!

All the best to you and your family and know that we're all very proud of you.

    Sincerely,
    Tamika

  4. Kace,
I am so proud of you! It sounds like y'all are having a blast...I am so jealous! Sorry I couldn't comment on the blog last week, but since I was out of town I couldn't get on line - my iphone wouldn't let me do it. (Technology is not my strong point.) I have been following the blog though and love the pictures. I can't wait to hear about DC. Thanks again for representing the hospital and the state so well. Tracy

  8. Hi Kace,

Tracy is spreading the word about your blog around the office here at Children's. I work in the Corporate Communications Department, so we are the ones who work with the Foundation to tell your story.

What a whirlwind of activity and fun. You will have stories to entertain your friends with for months! Keep posting so we can be jealous daily.

  10. Hi Kace,
My name is Chandra Holland. My daughter Gracie is 14. She has had 29 surgeries so far (all at Children's Hospital). She had her wish granted when she was four. She wanted to meet Whinnie the Pooh, we did Disney too! It was sooo long ago, she doesn't even remember it! Then she was selected as the Alabama Champion for CMN in 2000. She doesn't remember that either...ha ha I guess you should be older if your gonna remember where you've been, what you've seen & what you've done! I remember it all. We had a blast. We flew Delta to DC also, then stayed in a cool hotel and spent three hours at the White House. President Bush had just taken office (the 1st time) He spent alot of time with all the champions. We had lunch at the Capital Building. We did the Smithsonian and all the statues & monuments too. We all flew to Orlando to film the CMN telethon. We met alot of famous folks and had an awesome time. I hope you have as much fun as we did! Even after all this is over, you will still be real blessed, because you have a great Doctor (Dr. Blount is one of Gracie's favorites)and alot of special friends that work at Children's hospital (like Tracy). Make lots of friends and take lots of pictures and have the time of your life, I'm sure you deserve it!!!
